Question: Are there error messages for the search?

Answer:

There are (but they had not been mentioned in the former documentation).

The tags for the error messages are: 

<NO_DATA_DIR>      := No data directory defined!
<NO_SEARCH_TERM>   := No or invalid search term!
<NO_SEARCH_RESULT> := No search result
